Iulia Calota is an advertising project manager who, at 33, finding herself still single after 6 years, decided to take control over her love life by implementing project management methods to finding "The One". In 2013, she launched “The Love Project,” a one year quest for true love. She started with a project plan and ended up with a happy relationship, but what happened in between is a combination of methodology and serendipity. She has now written a memoir about her experience, soon to be published. She plans to write her next book on moving to France and starting a holiday rentals business with her future husband.

'Out for drinks with colleagues of similar age (thirty-something), Iulia contemplated the reality that she seemed to be hitting her career targets, but repeatedly missing the bullseye in finding a long-term fulfilling romantic relationship. She quipped that it was a shame they couldn’t project management success into their love lives the same way they used it to deliver on projects against deadlines and key performance indicators (KPIs). They rattled off how they could run test cases, refine the process and manage their way into marital bliss. The drinks flowed and the ideas became more flamboyant and humorous. They laughed it all off as fantasy.
Fast-forward three years. After throwing herself at yet another non-committal guy in an East London pub with what had become Iulia's signature ‘kamikaze-style’ approach at romance, she feared she was in an endless spiral and would never meet anyone. She had tried everything: she had signed-up to online dating and met people in social circumstances; she tried to be the type of girl that she thought guys couldn’t resist. But nothing seemed to work.
One thing was clear: her approach to men was out of control. She needed to tame the chaos of her dating life.
What followed was a hell of a year, during which Iulia learned a lot about love and dating but even more about herself. For the first time ever, she took full charge of her life and became an explorer, a subject and an expert, all at the same time.
The Love Project chronicles the steps she took, and the wild, poignant and often humorous results, in memoir style, playing with the project management format. Iulia set out to employ project management tools to find love, only to realise that it was through self-discovery, self-acceptance and being open that she found what she was looking for. She is now engaged to be married, but learning to love herself was the real lesson of The Love Project.'
