How did you get into acting Crystal?
I have wanted to be an actor since I was 5. My mother put me in a Sunday school church play and I was hooked. I was extremely lucky and got an incredible agent when I was 15, I am still with him now. What advice would you be able to offer anyone considering acting as a career choice? I would tell them that it is a long, hard climb that at times is seems never ending, but if its really what they love then be strong, be kind to themselves and continue to study and grow as much as you can. You know that I use this website to promote reading, so why is reading important to you? Reading is fuel for the mind, reading was a huge part of my life. My mother is a English Professor so my house was always filled with books and storytelling. It gave my imagination a work out and provided a beautiful way to learn the importance of storytelling. What is your favourite book(s) and why is that? I love the Harry Potter series, I love fantasy books that have heart. I also loved 'Memoirs of a Geisha', it's my favourite book, it's so beautifully written. When I read it, it felt as though the main character was sitting beside me telling me her story. Have you been reading anything recently, if so, what is it and was it a good read? I am always reading when I can. I was recently gifted "The Picture of Dorian Gray' and I am just starting to jump into it, so I will have to get back to you on all the details (laughing out loud). All actors have plenty of stories to tell, is there any good story you can share here, not told before? I have recently started writing, and am currently working on a children's story, so hopefully once its complete I will be able to share it with you then. If you could perform with any actor, who would you choose, and why? The list is SOOOOO long. I would have to say the person that may make me faint (laughing) is Dustin Hoffman. I have adored him and his work for so many years, and I would love to work with him. And would you ever consider writing a book of your life one day? I would, and I would have to say the fiction novel mentioned above for now, although that could change one day. What will the next 12 months hold for you? We will be going back in production for 'Signed Sealed Delivered' on the Hallmark Movie and Mystery Channel, 2015 which I am extremely excited about. Until then I will be finishing the short film 'Becoming Sophie' that I directed, and then hiding in random coffee shops writing and reading. I always end on a literary theme and if you can give me your answer as if you were writing it in a book, so… “If you were an animal, what would it be and why?” If I could be an animal, I would be a screaming goat (look them up they are hilarious), and why you ask? Because they are hilarious, they bounce around, yell randomly and most importantly make people laugh hysterically. I would love to be an animal that brightens peoples day and makes them giggle uncontrollably. Crystal @RealCrystalLowe |
