Hi Marc,
seldom do TV Host's get the time themselves to be interviewed, so I thought why not ask Marc, so thanks for your time doing this interview. Hi Carl and readers, I’m so excited to be able to share my story with you all. Obviously the show On Your Marc is on Lifestyle Network, and I know you like to inspire people, so Marc, how can you get my readers to read more; why should they? The key to getting ahead in this industry of producing and hosting is flawless communication - being able to put your most creative thoughts into writing, finding points of connection with anyone, and the ability to engage someone with authentic interest and quick wit. I always believed that reading is the key to broadening your understanding of life and humanity and the one thing that has brought me this far was my avid love for it. I think that reading builds the brain, making it smarter, and it can also power up your social skills. You know how people buy a round of drinks for someone they meet at a bar? We should try buying people a book. That would make for an amazing conversation starter! What is your favourite book, and why is that? This is a tough question because I have a lot of favorite books. If I had to choose, it would be “Discover the Power Within You” by Eric Butterworth. It helped me unlock my potential and release my light within so I can shine my brightest. This book taught me how to succeed, how to pray, how to find confidence, and how to heal so that I can have a happy, healthy life. And do you happen to be reading anything at the moment, possibly some autobiography of anyone you have just interviewed? Right now, I’m currently reading “Miracles Happen” by Dr. Brian Weiss. I always believed that we all have past lives. This books is packed with case studies of people who have benefited from Dr. Weiss' techniques to discover who they were in their past life. These stories have opened my heart and mind, as I journey towards hopefully remembering significant parts of my own. With yourself Marc, now what is your story, how did you get into TV (what was your big break/etc…)? I started off as a production assistant, and learned everything I could in the short amount of time on a show called “Starting Over.” The show got cancelled, but because of my excellent rapport with one of the producers, I was hired by MTV as a casting recruiter. My job was to meet with strangers, and ask them to be on MTV’s reality/dating shows. In my mid-20’s, I mastered interacting with different personalities and making people feel comfortable in front of the camera. My big break was when “The Tyra Banks Show” called me out of the blue, and asked to interview me. I was hired on the spot, and moved my life from LA to NY. I mastered all the key elements to become a respectable producer. When the show got cancelled, I moved back to LA. Luckily, “The Talk” was hiring producers and because of my enthusiasm for the talk show world, I was selected to be the last producer on staff. While working on The Talk, I had another dream to have my own talk show. I worked hard to make that dream come true, and attained that goal by being the "FIRST" Filipino American talk show with Hollywood celebrities. My show is called “On Your Marc!” which airs on the Lifestyle Network. Any regrets along the way, and I bet you could write a book about your life; will you be? I don’t have any regrets. The experiences that I’ve encountered, made me the person I am today. If it doesn’t challenge me, it won’t change me. I would love to write a book someday. To be able to inspire and motivate readers that anything can happen would be amazing. What tips can you give to anyone wanting to be as successful as you are? If you have a dream, do everything in your power to make it come true. Take risks! You may lose friends, lose money, and lose your mind along the way but always remember “one of life’s greatest risks is never daring to risk.” You can’t succeed unless you try your best. Are the shows scripted by yourself and team to a certain extent, or do you just come up with the questions on the day? I have a great team behind the “On Your Marc!” show. RD Alba is the Director and he makes sure the show is visually entertaining. Phil Smith is the Executive Producer and he helps me research and brainstorm the questions to ask the celebrity ahead of time. As a host, I’m naturally curious and may ask celebrity follow up questions during the interview. Who has been your favourite person so far that you have interviewed? Olivia Newton-John’s interview was very memorable. I wanted to pay tribute to this legend by transforming into three memorable characters associated with Olivia, and it was absolutely fabulous! Do you remember her song, “Physical?” Well, I sure got physical wearing gold skin-tight leotards that basically cut off my blood circulation. For the second outfit, I dressed as a T-Bird, rocking hair grease and a leather jacket. Finally, Olivia morphed me into a Pink Lady with purple hair. 3 outfit changes… Triple check! Can you allow me to ask who you will be having on the next series, or is that still hush-hush? There are going to be many surprises… Stay tuned to find out! If Marc Anthony could be an animal, what would it be, and why? An eagle, of course. An eagle is the strongest bird, able to lift something four times its body weight during flight. It’s a symbol of power, freedom, and transcendence. Best, Marc @Marc_Nicolas @OnYourMarcShow @thetalk_CBS |
