Hi Laura,
most people will remember first seeing you on X-Factor in 2008 where you were, in everyone bar a few judges (well, one!) minds, the clear nations favourite to win it. You really are an exceptional singer with a special singing voice. I thank you for helping me promote reading by doing this Q&A. Thank you so much bubiiiiii With your songwriting, I sense you also have a passion for reading? I do so much!! I am Matilda!!! Just a lady of words I am. What advice would you give to your fans that it is important to read, and has it helped you with your songwriting? Listen. Learn. Do as much writing as possible, work with lots of people.. always have great titles, and write exactly how you feel daily! Can you tell me what is your best book you have ever read, and why is that? I would say so many... I love 'The Secret' for the excitement it creates in you! I love books like The Great Gatsby, for dreaming, and creativity. Growing up, I loved Judy Blumes and Enid Blytons. I also recently read a book called 'Rules on life' which was amazing, I had an Alicia Keys poetry book I loved. I loved the Alchemist SO much, and Who moved my cheese!! I also read the Bible, that gives me my greatest answers. What are you currently reading at the moment, or just finished? I'm reading Scott Fitzgerald 'Tender is the Night'. What most people reading this will not know though is you are a songwriter. Am I correct in saying that you have written songs for Rihanna, Leona Lewis & Cher Lloyd, to name a few?
I have! I've written for many artists including all of my own material. This year has been crazy writing for Rita Ora, Conor Maynard, and so many other people. My biggest cut was a number one song I wrote for Gin Lee, an artist out in China, with my song 'Falling'. In the next 12 months, what does the future hold for you? I hope to have success in that my 2nd EP is loved worldwide by my fans. I hope to take my music worldwide, and just write the most meaningful songs that I can to help make a great change in the world. If you could be an animal, what would it be, and why? Definitely a cat because I love them! I have two, they are called Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin! Or a lion, because I look and act like one. @Laurawhiteoffic |
